Ericht Samaya (エリクト・サマヤ?) is the protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury PROLOGUE, an antagonist in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury and the narrator of Cradle Planet. During the Vanadis Incident, she was a four-year-old girl who lived with her family at Fólkvangr. She was the daughter of Elnora and Nadim Samaya [5]. She was often known by the nickname Eri (エリ?) [1].

Personality & Character[]

As a child, Ericht is very cheery and curious, frequently wandering around Fólkvangr and getting friendly with the staff. She has a close bond with the Gundam Lifrith. She maintains a strong innocence and naïveté, as she remains blissful and unaware of the violence amid a mobile suit battle while believing the explosions are like birthday candles [1].

Eri's understanding and maturity broadened over her years as the Aerial. However, she still remains extremely devoted to her mother and support's Elnora's plans to take revenge against Delling and the Benerit Group. Eri is prepared to use force against anyone who tries to interfere with her mother's plans[2] regardless of her attachment[7].

Despite remaining committed to Elnora's goals, Eri has a deep attachment to Suletta and wishes to keep her from getting involved in their most violent objectives[8] [3]. She frequently speaks to her through the cockpit of the Aerial and does her best to comfort and reassure Suletta in her moments of doubt[2].

History[]

Vanadis Incident[]

On her fourth birthday, she went to the laboratory to get her mother. She came floating towards her mother who left the XGF-02 Gundam Lfrith's cockpit to catch her, and they chatted about the Lfrith—considered the child of all the staff members. Eri concluded she was the Lfrith's big sister. When asked her age by Nyla Bertran, Eri answered that she was four. She and her mother returned home for her party—Eri had helped to decorate. She then put on her birthday hat. Her mother attempted to place a candle on Eri's birthday cake but her GUND based prosthetic stopped working. The party was interrupted as her father had to take a call from Yamaoka, upsetting her [1].

While her father was busy, her mother had been searching and had found her fork. Eri, however, had since gone back to the laboratory to wake the Lfrith up, as she felt her parents care more about it than her, even on her birthday. Cardo Nabo, who was in the cockpit, overheard and apologised. Cardo explained the importance of the Lfrith in allowing humanity to live in space. Cardo brought her to the cockpit and registered her with the Lfrith by placing her hand on a panel. Ericht vocally inputted her personal data into the Lfrith [1].

Elnora overhears an enemy message upon booting up the Lfrith.

When the alarm rang, her parents met up and her mother was urged to find her while her father went out in the Lfrith (LF-01). Inside the laboratory, flames began to engulf the Lfrith that she was still inside of. Fortunately, her mother found her and closed the cockpit hatch. The Lfrith then had a successful callback from layer 33, much to her mother's shock, it was Ericht Samaya's name on the monitor. After launching, she touched three targets on the monitor whilst her normal suit was connected to the port for her mother's prosthetic arm. Three of the Heingras that she had locked onto were destroyed and her mother watched on in horror whereas she compared the three explosions to candles [1].

Later, the Lfrith engaged Kenanji's Beguir-Beu. Her father entered firing Beam Vulcans. He rammed his Gundam into the Beguir-Beu. Holding it, he told her mother to escape and live on with her. Her mother complied with his request to flee as the Ulysses fired beams at them. When her father whited out he reminisced about her birthday party earlier. Still holding on, he sung Happy Birthday to Ericht until his last breath. The Beguir-Beu pushed away the motionless Lfrith Pre-Production Model and retreated. She finished the song alone as her father's Gundam exploded [1].

Mercury[]

Shortly after the Vanadis Incident, Elnora and Ericht fled to Mercury. However, Ericht's body would soon be unable to withstand the strain of living in outer space. Luckily, due to her compatibility with the GUND-Format, her biometric code was synchronized with the data storm produced by the Lfrith. Elnora continued to experiment with the Lfrith, eventually being forced to transfer Ericht's biometric code to the Lfrith. In order to save her life, Ericht was turned into a mobile suit known as the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial [2].

Aerial Rebuild[]

G-Witch-EP14-Ericht

Whilst Suletta participating in the Rumble Ring (and subsequent terrorist attack staged by Norea Du Noc and Sophie Pulone) with the XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild, Belmeria Winston came to Elnora, now named Prospera Mercury, seeking the truth behind Aerial and her daughter Ericht. Prospera revealed that Aerial was Ericht's new body [2]. While Suletta hesitated to battle her supposed friends, Ericht utilized Aerial's capabilities to the fullest and summoned a massive data storm that overwhelmed the terrorist mobile suits, ultimately killing Sophie. Suletta was distraught afterwards, but Eri reassured her that she had saved the school and all of her friends, and Suletta smiled and cried as she agreed.

Ericht appeared once again to summon a massive data storm to repel Enhanced Person Number 5 from trying to hijack Aerial Rebuild, causing him immense pain.[9]

During Suletta's third duel with Guel Jeturk, Ericht apologized to Suletta as Miorine pushed the deactivation button at Prospera's signal, resulting in her first loss.[10]

Parting With Suletta[]

Right before Miorine, Guel and Prospera were about to leave for Earth, Suletta made her way to Hangar 78 and sortied in Aerial. After opening up about her feelings since losing the duel, Ericht raised her Permet Score to 8 and, subjecting Suletta to a data storm for the first time, revealed the truth about what they really were. After telling Suletta that she was no longer needed and that she could no longer latch onto her or on their mother, Ericht ejected her.

Prospera soon arrived and ordered Suletta to go return to the school and not follow her, leaving her with a thruster pack in space. Prospera took control of the Aerial and revealed her doubts about parting with Suletta, but Eri assured her it was their best option.[3]

With Suletta left at Asticassia, Prospera sortied in the Aerial with Eri and arrived in Quinhabor on Miorine's mission to an earthian delegation. During the negotiations, Prospera and Eri initiated a permet field to cause the Earhtian and Spacian ground vehicles to open fire on each other. As the fighting escalated, the two flew off to an Ochs Earth storage facility and destroyed its cache of Gundam prototypes [11].

Quiet Zero[]

Ericht and Propsera went straight to where Quiet Zero was, turning out to be a vessel. Ericht in the Aerial was then connected inside with Quiet Zero activating Gundnodes to wipe out the Space Assembly League fleet [12].

After Suletta boarded the Gundam Calibarn she arrived at Quiet Zero, sensing this and realizing that Suletta was the pilot she went on to the battlefield to confront her sister. While both sisters fought Ericht had the full advantage of having her g bits at full power and suletta holding herself back as she did not want to hurt her.

While both were facing each other Ericht came to the realization and knew she could not drive her sister away no matter what, so she pointed her Gundnodes at Miorine, Chu Chu, and the rest of the group infiltrating Quiet Zero and before she could eliminate all of them someone interfered with her connection to the Gundnodes.

Epilogue[]

Three years after Quiet Zero, Eri remained conscious and communicated with Miorine through the "Hot" keychain, often bickering with her as a sister-in-law. Miorine was baffled at how Eri was still alive, but she says Suletta's wish as she dissolved the Gundams is likely what freed her[4].
