Enhanced Person Number 5 (強化人士5号 Kyōka Jinshi Go-gō?), also known as Elan Ceres (エラン・ケレス Eran Keresu?), is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury.
Personality & Character[]
Unlike his previous counterpart, he is more willing to engage in conversation. Similar to the real Elan, he has been noted by the CEOs of Peil Technologies to have a rather twisted personality as he attempts to seduce Suletta and manipulate her into believe that Miorine doesn't care for her. Suletta is quick to make note that he acts far differently than his previous counterpart without even knowing they are two different people to which he states he changed because of her.
To the end of seducing Suletta, he was made privy to some details about his previous counterpart; he knows that he was a taciturn individual who had meaningfully bonded with the Mercurian in his last moments.
He has an overriding sense of self-preservation. In addition to having accepted becoming an Enhanced Person just to stay alive, he refused to raise his Permet score when fighting Norea Du Noc due to the mortal risk. Furthermore, after failing to steal the Aerial, he flees Peil House entirely, choosing to take refuge with Norea and Nika Nanaura.
History[]
Recruitment[]
Following the execution of Enhanced Person Number 4, the Peil CEOs recruited him to seduce Suletta, so they could gain control of Aerial through indirect means rather than challenging her upfront like Jeturk House and Grassley House. The Peil CEOs inform the real Elan Ceres that they recruited him because his personality is as twisted as his own.
During Miorine's business trip, she recruited him to become another test pilot for GUND-ARM, Inc. Miorine Rembran recruited him, so the company could have more than one test pilot besides, Suletta, but she also made sure that he wouldn't be allowed to challenge Suletta to any duels due to them being colleagues.
He makes his presence known to Suletta when she is on her way to Miorine's greenhouse. He states that he'll be returning to school due to his 'errands' for Peil Technologies being complete which Suletta is happy for. Their conversation takes a turn when he decides to try asking her for a date. Suletta is reluctant to accept because she still engaged to Miorine. Elan to undeterred this by telling Suletta that Miorine doesn't really care about her and is merely using her as a shield to avoid getting married to someone else. He then attempts to kiss Suletta who refused him and runs away.
As Suletta runs away, Elan is mildly impressed that she resisted his words. Despite that, he is confident that won't take much for him to get her to come to his side.
Rumble Ring[]
Elan was scheduled to participate in the Rumble Ring exhibition as his house's representative. Unfortunately, a terrorist attack staged by two witches from the Dawn of Fold, Sophie Pulone and Norea Du Noc, quickly cut the match short. Elan chose to disengage from the fighting and observe Suletta through the chaos. When Norea suddenly broke off, Elan spotted members of Grassley House abducting Sarius Zenelli and realized that Grassley was in league with the Dawn of Fold.
During the aftermath, Elan was ordered to hijack XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild which had been confiscated from Suletta by school officials. Finding the mobile suit proved trivial, but when Elan tried to boot up the suit's onboard computer he was suddenly assaulted by an intense data storm. Aerial's inner workings, the digitized ghost of Ericht Samaya, demanded Elan stay away and kicked him out of the cockpit. He then attempted to assault Suletta in Miorine's greenhouse, demanding her to give him the Aerial but was chased away by Guel Jeturk.
Having failed to obtain the Aerial and knowing that execution awaited him if he stayed in Peil House, he approached Grassley House and used his knowledge that they were behind the Asticassia Attack to blackmail them into hiding him alongside Norea Du Noc and Nika Nanaura.
Character Relations[]
Suletta Mercury[]
As she believes him to be the Elan that she previous knew, she was happy to see him. However, she quickly became uncomfortable around him. She noted that she actually found him to be rather frightening. Though she would later learn the truth about Elan, she held him no ill will and instead requested he tell her what he knew of his predecessor.
Miorine Rembran[]
During her business trips, she recruited him to be a test pilot for GUND-ARM, Inc. as long as he doesn't attempt to duel Suletta again.
Norea Du Noc[]
The two shared a mutual dislike, coming to blows multiple times before Elan eventually comforted her. Elan would express his understanding of Norea's feelings during her rampage, and a desire to live alongside her before she was killed by a Dominicus member's beam cannon. Three years following her death, Elan began to travel the Earth, visiting various locations in her art book.

Notes & Trivia[]
- He is distinguishable from Enhanced Person Number 4 by the epaulets and cravat he has on his school uniform, as well as wearing different earrings and lacking #4's white gloves.
