Elran (エルラン?) is a character from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam and the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga.
History[]
Elran is an Earth Federation General stationed aboard General Revil's Big Tray. Elran is secretly colluding with M'Quve of the Principality of Zeon, and receives order from him via a soldier named Judock. As Operation Odessa approaches, M'Quve orders him to restrain the Federation's forces on certain fronts. When Amuro Ray and Sayla Mass spot Judock's plane leaving from Zeon controlled territory, they follow it to the Big Tray and Amuro presents Elran proof that Judock is a spy. Elran pulls a gun on Amuro, planning to kill him, but the conversation had been monitored and Elran is arrested. As a result, the defense line in the direction of Elran's army, which M'Quve had thinly deployed in anticipation of Elran's betrayal, was the first to be breached, setting the stage for Zeon's defeat at Odessa.
In the movie version "Soldiers of Sorror", the battle of Odessa and the internal communication with M'Quve, was completely cut out, and he is just a General of the Federation who is a little skeptical of Revil's excessive support for White Base.
