The Earth Federation Forces (地球連邦軍 Chikyuu Renpougun?, abbreviated as E.F.F.) are the military branch of the Earth Federation government in the Universal Century timeline.
History[]
The origins of the Earth Federation Forces closely mirror those of its primary counterpart in the Universal Century timeline.
Prelude to War[]
Following widespread discontent in the space colonies with what was perceived as a corrupt and oppressive bureaucracy within the Earth Federation, Side 3—the colony cluster farthest from Earth—emerged as the Principality of Zeon. The Principality then declares war on the Earth Federation, igniting the conflict known as the One Year War.
One Year War[]
On January 3, 0079 of the Universal Century, The Principality launches Operation British, which involves dropping the Side 2 space colony, Island Iffish, onto Earth, aiming to destroy the Earth Federation Headquarters at Jaburo, South America. The Earth Federation Forces were unable to prevent the colony drop, which, instead of landing as intended, veered off course and struck Sydney, Australia. This catastrophic event resulted in the complete destruction of the city and significant loss of life, along with damaging 16% of Australia's landmass. Following this, the Principality of Zeon attempted another colony drop using the remnants of Side 5, but their efforts were thwarted by the Earth Federation Forces during the Battle of Loum.
In September 0079, the Earth Federation planned to conduct secret tests of Project V in Side 7 to counter Zeon's mobile suits. However, a Zeon reconnaissance unit, led by Char Aznable, uncovered these plans. Char successfully infiltrated Side 7, where he uncovered the Earth Federation Forces' latest weapon, the mobile suit Gundam. He swiftly took control of the unit and managed to capture the Pegasus, an amphibious assault ship. In response, the Federation deployed the 01 Gundam in an attempt to reclaim their lost asset, but they were ultimately defeated. Following this setback, the Principality focused on analyzing the captured Gundam, which significantly accelerated advancements in mobile suit development, culminating in the creation of the Gelgoog, and abandoning their plans for a Psycommu-equipped Mobile Armor.
As the war approaches its conclusion, Zeon manages to turn the tide after suffering early defeats against the Federation. In a desperate move, the Federation sets the captured Solomon asteroid base on a collision course with the Zeon-held Granada lunar city. Char launched from the Sodon and was ordered to alter the falling asteroid fortress, However unexplained event known as the Zeknova took place, leading to the sudden disappearance of Char and his Red Gundam without a trace, and thus caused Solomon to change its trajectory, preventing damage to Granada.
As Solomon drifts away from the Moon and Luna II subsequently falls to Zeon. The Federation Forces are in full retreat, and its high command opening negotiations for a ceasefire. And the One Year War concluded. [1]
Post-war Era[]
By UC 0085, the Federation had lost its substantial influence over space, as the space colonies successfully gained independence from Earth.
