The EDM-GA-01 Gundam Lfrith Ur (ガンダム・ルブリス・ウル Gandamu Ruburisu Uru?) is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury and is piloted by Sophie Pulone. Later, this unit is briefly piloted by Elan Ceres.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A Gundam-type mobile suit manufactured by the once-defunct Ochs Earth Corporation with support from the Space Assembly League. It was developed for the purpose of suppressing the Benerit Group and given to the Dawn of Fold, an anti-Spacian organization active on Earth.
It is a substantially upgraded version of the Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model produced by Ochs Earth. Though it bears the name of Lfrith, its frame, exterior, and almost everything besides the GUND Format base components are newly manufactured. With new capabilities geared toward short sorties, it boasts superior standard output values than regular battle models. With power surpassing expectations for any mobile suit, the Lfrith Ur is a manifestation of one of the Mobile Suit Development Council's fears concerning GUND-ARM.
Armaments[]
- Beam Gatling Gun
A portable firearm whose barrel rotates to fire beam pellets in rapid succession. Ammunition is supplied by a high-capacity battery which allows for quick consecutive fire. The gun shield on one side provides additional protection while the Beam Gatling Gun is in use.
- Phased Array Cannon
A large piece of equipment attached to the back of the mobile suit. When open, it can fire an extremely powerful, high-directivity beam. In conjunction with the GUND Format, it allows for intuitive wide-range attacks. It supposedly has additional functions which can be unlocked with a high Permet score.
It automatically opens when the machine's permet score has reached 3 and above.
- Beam Saber
A close-range weapon that projects a beam blade. Stored in the back of the gun shield, it can be drawn by rotating the attachment part to release it.
- Beam Vulcan
Two auxiliary firing ports are mounted on each shoulder. They are rapid firing beam weapons.
History[]
Piloted by Sophie Pulone, the Lfrith Ur first appeared alongside Norea Du Noc and the EDM-GA-02 Gundam Lfrith Thorn, joining the attack on Plant Quetta conducted by the Dawn of Fold.[4] The machine was used to dispatch enemy mobile suits and seek out the Aerial Rebuild. It was assisted by the Lfrith Thorn, shortly after engaging the machine, but was forced to retreat due to the arrival of Dominicus.[5]
Sophie in the Lfrith Ur later sortied alongside Norea in the Lfrith Thorn during the attack on the Rumble Ring. It re matched against the Aerial Rebuild, but was damaged and overwhelmed by the latter's override. After Sophie's death, the damaged machine would be carried away by Norea and the Lfrith Thorn.[6]
While it was claimed that the Lfrith Ur self-destructed to avoid falling into the hands of the enemy[7], it and the Lfrith Thorn were truthfully stored in a hangar beneath the Asticassia School of Technology. It would later be piloted by Elan Ceres to calm Norea Du Noc, during her rampage on the school. Later, despaired by Norea's death, he inadvertently raised the Lfrith Ur's permet score before escaping outside school barriers and later abandoned the suit. This machine would shortly be found by Dominicus forces, in an inactive state.

Notes & Trivia[]
- Its name may have been derived from ur, which is the second rune of the Anglo-Saxon alphabet.
- The design of Lfrith Ur could be inspired by heavy assault Gundams like the GN-005 Gundam Virtue, GN-008 Seravee Gundam or CB-002 Raphael Gundam due to its bulky design. The head of Lfrith Ur might be inspired by the Virtue, Seravee, or Raphael. Ur's Beam Gatling Gun is similar to GT-9600 Gundam Leopard's Inner Arm Gatling and XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms's Beam Gatling.
