The small aircraft known as the Dish serve multiple functions for the Earth Federation Forces, including EWAC (Early Warning And Control), EW (Electronic Warfare) and transport. The large radome that makes up the central portion of the Dish's fuselage serves as powerful long range radar, although its effectiveness is greatly reduced by the advent of the Minovsky particle scattering system. Dish aircraft often assist in long-range target identification, increasing the effectiveness of Federation Forces troop deployment. General Revil, commander of the Federation Forces in the One Year War, uses a Dish to fly to Belfast, Ireland, in late UC 0079 to inspect the Newtype crew of the White Base carrier. Since Dish aircraft aren't designed for combat, they are armed with only a small machine gun for defense.
