Dianna Soriel (ディアナ・ソレル Diana Soreru?) is a fictional character from ∀ Gundam television series.
Personality & Character[]
She is an intelligent and commanding leader, but she lacks the drive of her young double, Kihel Heim. Dianna is overjoyed when assuming Kihel's identity allows her to lead a simple life with Loran. She only returns to the Moon in order to correct the mistakes she made in her rash rush toward repatriation.
She can also be quite naive and innocent, as she was largely unaware of the horrors of war. It is only after travelling the Earth that she realizes the extent of suffering caused by the Dianna Counter's invasion.
History[]
The Queen of the Moon, Dianna Soriel is the hereditary ruler of the Moonrace. In the past she had agreed to marry Will Game, but ended up moving to the moon before he returned. She would later learn of his death.
Dianna has lived for centuries using the Moonrace's cryogenic techniques. Her desire to live on Earth is a product of her weariness with her unchanging life on the Moon.
Now that the Earth has regenerated from the destruction wrought by the Dark History, she believes that it is time for her subjects to return to Earth. Dianna lands a colonial force on the Earth in the hopes that they will be allowed to live in the sparsely-populated North Amerian Sunbelt area. Unfortunately, she fails to take Earthlings resistance to the migration into account, while her own forces are also quick to attack. By the time she arrives on Earth, the Moonrace and the people of Earth have already started fighting and she only arrives during the negotiations.
She makes multiple attempts to broker peace during this time, not anticipating that her more ambitious subjects might turn against her in her absence and cause the situation to spiral further out of control. She also notices that Kihel Heim resembles her very closely, and the pair exchange outfits and disguise themselves as the other for a brief period of time. While they are swapped, Michael Gern of the Inglessa Militia disobeys Guin's orders and breaks the ceasefire, restarting war. Dianna and Kihel are still swapped and end up having to stay this way until they are able to reunite. During this time, she travels the country with Loran and sees Earth from a different perspective.
Over time, she realises the necessity of returning to the moon in order to fix the Moonrace's internal issues. She leaves Loran with an amnesiac Corin Nander for this purpose, though Loran eventually catches up to her and ends up having to try and pacify an enraged Corin after he sees a paper mâché Gundam. Harry Ord also learns of her whereabouts and comes to collect her, so she leaves with him. She reunites with Kihel who is happy to see her. However, she asks Kihel to continue assuming her identity as she will need to investigate the moon in secret. Though unsure of her own abilities, Kihel agrees. The pair are later seen watching the nuclear explosion from afar, with Dianna commenting on how such a monstrosity should not exist. After the explosion, Phil Ackman chastises her for not being harsh enough with the enemy and wants to take control for himself. Upon his suggestion about utilizing nuclear weapons against the enemy, Dianna threatens to have him executed. Phil then turns on her and holds her at gunpoint, but Harry away with Kihel. Dianna refers to Kihel by her own name and tells her to run, which leaves Phil unsure as to which is the real Dianna. He proceeds to imprison Dianna under 'attempted mutiny'. However, Miran Rex and those who are still loyal to her arrange for her escape.
In reality, Miran had sold her out to Agrippa. Meme Midgard comes to collect her and send her back to the moon. While on the Gendarme, they are noticed by the Rhett Team. Cancer Kafka, the leader of the team, joins her alongside Muron Muron on Dianna's journey to the moon. Once in space, Cancer and Muron break her out of Midgard's confinement upon learning about his treachery and they escape the ship together. Dianna sends a coded transmission to the Militia informing them that they are heading to Mistletoe (an abandoned colony). She reunites with Loran and Sochie not long after, and the trio head to the moon after Loran nukes the abandoned colony before it can land on a populated city.[1]
While on the moon, she continues on her journey to meet with Agrippa alongside Loran and Sochie. She learns about how Agrippa's policies have changed life for the people there after talking with Hammett and Dona Roroi.[2] They eventually reunite with the Militia who were in hiding on the moon.[3] Dianna joins Guin and Lily when they meet Agrippa for negotiations while pretending to be Kihel[4], then finally confronts Agrippa when the real Kihel breaks in with Harry[5]. Agrippa escapes but Dianna and the militia follow him, capture him and proceed to reveal the dark history to the public.[6]
She later returns to Earth with the others in pursuit of Gym, who has betrayed her. When she learns that his forces have turned on Dianna Counter, she heads out with Harry and a newly returned Corin Nander in order to help Dianna Counter.[7]

Loren Cehak[]
Dianna trusts Loren, who in turn is fiercely loyal to her.
Kihel Heim[]
Dianna took an immediate interest in Kihel, who looks exactly like her. She swapped places with her as a joke, but the two were forced to assume their roles for a while after war broke out again and they were separated while still disguised. While she had doubts about Kihel's ability to take her place, she would approve of her decision and remarked how Kihel had voiced her own opinions better than she could have. She grew to respect Kihel and trusted her to make the right decisions.
Sochie Heim[]
Sochie's hatred for the Moonrace led her to naturally hate Dianna as well, as their queen. She continued to badmouth Dianna in front of the actual Dianna, unaware that she had swapped places with her sister. This made things awkward for Dianna, who felt largely responsible for the death of their father. Dianna tried to help Sochie keep a cool head, while Sochie in turn chastised Dianna for her leniency towards the Moonrace. She also chastises her when she does something wrong,
