Damien Karras was a character introduced in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.
Personality[]
Damien Karras has a very sadistic side and has no remorse in causing other people suffering. He strongly believes in Social Darwinism and according his merciless view the stronger should always supplant the weaker. For this reason he's very faithful to Crux Dogatie's cause, because the stronger Jovians (who survive in the harsh environment of Jupiter Sphere, should dominate the weaker Earthnoids and the Earth Sphere's Spacenoids. He feels true admiration for what he perceive as talent and power, in particular, he desires to take as his students, the most talented young people that he meet, even if they're his enemies (such as Tobia Arronax).
History[]
Early Life[]
When he was a child, Karras was trapped on an escape shuttle, which launched from its mothership and drifted through space because of a friend's prank. There were six other children aboard the ship with him, with enough food and water for three days. In order to hoard the resources for himself, Karras gunned down all of the other children and survived for 21 days. He was subsequently rescued by Crux Dogatie, the Supreme Leader of the Jupiter Empire, who praised him for his strength. Because of this incident, Karras adopted an extremely Darwinian worldview and swore loyalty to Dogatie, becoming an agent of the Jupiter Empire.
In U.C. 0133 Karras is a Jovian spy disguised as a professor for exchange students program between the Earth Federation and the Jupiter Empire. However, he secret mission is to transport poisonous gas to Earth Sphere, but his plans are stopped by the intervention of the space pirates of the Crossbone Vanguard. He attack the Mother Vanguard, sending the Death Gale Team, during Zabine Chareux's mutiny, that give him the chance to capture Tobia Arronax and Bernadette Briett. Despite Tobia's escape from execution, Karras is truly delighted by his ex student abilities and when Karras his definitively beaten by Tobia, during Jovian invasion of Earth, he praises Tobia and spend his last moments before is death killing the soldier who was trying to shoot Tobia down, while saying that a loser shouldn't take away the victor's victory.
