The DOM Trooper Team, also known as the Harken Team, is a faction introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

Overview

The DOM Trooper Team is an elite three-man team composed of former ZAFT pilots Hilda Harken, Mars Simeon, and Herbert Von Reinhard. The three notably participated on the side of Lacus Clyne during the late stages of the Second Alliance-PLANT War and later accompanied her as she formed the peacekeeping organization Compass.

History

The exact date of the team's formation is not known but it is noted that the team had to have been affiliated with the Clyne Faction since at least after the First Alliance-PLANT War as Terminal acquired the rejected ZGMF-XX09T DOM Trooper Original Spec Type's blueprints and upgraded it to the team's iconic ZGMF-XX09T DOM Troopers by the middle of the Second Alliance-PLANT War.

The team's first known deployment would be during the Second Battle of Orb where they were dropped by the FFMH-Y101 Eternal and rushed to support the Orb Union's ground troops. In the manga Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny: The Edge, the team accompanied Lacus, Kira Yamato, and Athrun Zala to the private estate of Lacus's impersonator Meer Campbell and protected Lacus when assassins emerged to try and kill her.

Following this, the team was returned to the Eternal and would defend the ship during the battles of Station One and Messiah. The team stubbornly held off multiple attack waves led by Lunamaria Hawke's ZGMF-X56S/α Force Impulse Gundam though Hilda's DOM Trooper was hit in the leg during the final stages of the battle. (In the original, this did not occur, and the team ended the war with a spotless record)

In the post-war, the team returned to ZAFT briefly as Lacus became the interim Supreme Chairwoman of the PLANTs following Gilbert Durandal's death, and joined Lacus as she formed Compass to safeguard the new peace they had created. A byproduct, however, was that the team was now bound by the Junius Treaty's ban on Mirage Colloid weaponry, including the DOM Trooper's "Screaming Nimbus". As a result, Hilda shifted to the ZGMF-2027/A GYAN Strom while Mars and Herbert moved to the ZGMF-2025/F GELGOOG Menace. With Lacus taking a more organizational role, the team is assigned to the new LHM-BB03S Millennium as terrorist attacks from Blue Cosmos remnants continued to plague Earth.

During a terrorist attack on the ZAFT-aligned Aldrin City, the Harken Team remained on standby as Kira Yamato's team was sent to the ground to deal with the crisis. After the Yamato Team's return, the Millennium and other Compass forces travelled to Ishtaria, the capital of the Kingdom of Foundation, to plan a joint expedition with Foundation and the Eurasian Federation against the final strongholds of the terrorist leader Michael.

As Compass's forces moved into the border region of Eldore, Kira instructed the Harken team to support the Archangel while he would lead the chase. Unbeknownst to them, however, Foundation began to sabotage the entire operation. First, Griffin Arbalest hypnotized Kira into seeing Michael, resulting in him charging into the Eurasian Federation's territory and causing a border crisis. Additionally, civilian bombers planted among refugees forced the Eurasian Federation to grant Foundation forces permission to enter Eldore, while Kira's outburst leads to Lacus being pressured into ordering the destruction of his STTS-909 Rising Freedom Gundam.

The Archangel quickly attempted to calm the situation and advanced to retrieve Kira but spots suspicious movements from Foundation's Black Knight Squad. When the ship attempts to investigate, members of the squad quickly attack the ship, alongside its escorts. Hilda faced heavy fire from the squad's AMF-101Q/4 DINN-Rs and was held in place while Mars and Herbert's units were easily outclassed by the NOG-M4F Black Knight Squad Rud-ro.A and were cut down by Liu Shenqiang and Daniel Harper. The Archangel later took catastrophic damage and crashed into the ground, and Hilda could only rescue Shinn Asuka from his bisected STTS-808 Immortal Justice Gundam before abandoning the battle when Eldore was about to be hit with nuclear missiles fire by the Black Knight Squad.

Hilda would continue as the team's sole surviving member, switching out her damaged GYAN Strom for Lunamaria's GELGOOG Menace as she later avenged her fallen squad mates by helping Shinn destroy the Black Knights during the decisive Battle of Requiem.
