History[]
At least two Core Fighters are present aboard the White Base and are used to defend the ship multiple times during the One Year War. An injured Ryu Jose takes Core Fighter 01 out, and sacrifices himself to save Amuro Ray from the ambush set by Crowley Hamon. In preparation for Odessa Day, the White Base's compliment of Core Fighters would receive supplemental booster equipment to be upgraded into Core Boosters.

- Unlike its television counterpart, the Core Fighter in The Origin does not form a core block for any Mobile Suit, and strictly operates as a fighter aircraft. That roll of the Core Fighter as an escape pod in The Origin is instead filled by the Core Pod.
