Core 3 is a location introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.

Overview

A colony given to Haman Karn by the Earth Federation during the First Neo Zeon War to serve as her base of operations. It is the site of the final battle of the civil war between Haman and Glemy Toto's forces, during which the colony was destroyed when the asteroids Axis and Moussa collided with it.

History

First Neo Zeon War

After the Dublin Colony Drop, the Earth Federation gave in to Haman Karn's demands and seceded Side 3 to Neo Zeon. After assuming control over the colony cluster, Haman would establish Core 3 as Neo Zeon's new base of operations. However, Neo Zeon's control over Side 3 would be short-lived, as Glemy Toto had formed his own faction within Neo Zeon and sought to challenge Haman for the title of Supreme Leader. The Neo Zeon Civil War would see the near total ruination the Neo Zeon's forces as well as the complete destruction of Core 3, as during the Battle of Axis, Glemy ordered the Axis asteroid to collide with Core 3.

Though the collusion with Axis was little more than a glancing blow, Glemy Toto soon after ordered Moussa launched at Core 3 instead. Moussa would go on to smash through the center of the colony, destroying it and presumably killing most of the population who had not been evacuated.
