The Columbus Kai-class is a space supply ship that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Columbus Kai-class is a supply ship that has enhanced the thrust and range of the Columbus-class supply ship after the end of the One Year War. Improvements from the Columbus-class are mainly in the engines and navigation systems, and there are no significant changes in the ship's appearance. The Columbus-class had a cargo bay that was divided into two sections, one on each side, but the Columbus Kai-class has been divided into three sections. Like the Columbus-class, it had no fixed armament and was engaged in logistical duties such as supplying the space fleet and transporting supplies.
Ships serving as control vessels for the Solar System II were painted white and had attachments such as several sensor antennae needed to coordinate the superweapon at long ranges.
History[]
A number of these ships were in service during the Delaz Conflict in 0083, including the "Edge" belonging to the Federation Space Force's 3rd Orbital Fleet, which supplied the MSC-07 Albion, and the ships belonging to the 1st Orbital Fleet, with at least one of these vessels used as control ships for the Solar System II. Furthermore, during the Laplace Incident in 0096, the "Alaska" was used to supply the SCVA-76 Nahel Argama. There were also ships that were converted from Columbus Kai-class supply ships to Antietam-class auxiliary vessels to serve as mobile suit carriers or pilot training ships.
