Boaz is a space fortress introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Overview[]
Originally a resource-mining asteroid called "Nova" owned by the Republic of East Asia in the L4 space region, it was captured by ZAFT and transformed into a space fortress that forms the PLANT's defense line together with Jachin Due.
History[]
First Alliance-PLANT War[]
Battle of Nova[]
During the First Alliance-PLANT War, ZAFT forces attacked the asteroid. The fighting continued over the course of a month, eventually leading to the Republic of East Asia abandoning it. In the battle's aftermath, ZAFT was in the process of moving the asteroid into the territory of the PLANT homeland and was attacked by Earth Alliance forces. However, the EA forces were thwarted, and the asteroid was positioned at the forepart of the PLANT's territory of L5. After being moved, ZAFT overhauled the facility, refurbishing it as a ZAFT defense base, renaming it "Boaz".[1]
Battle of Boaz[]
During the final days of the war, the Earth Alliance engaged the Boaz defense forces on September 23, C.E. 71. While the defending forces were able to hold their own against the EA's ships and mobile suits, the battle shifted irrevocably when the Peacemaker Force deployed their nuclear missile-equipped Moebius mobile armors, destroying Boaz in a massive nuclear assault.[2]
Foundation Conflict[]
Following the end of the war, the remains of Boaz was secretly repurposed into a storage and supply facility by the Clyne Faction to house various weapons for emergency use, including the ZGMF-103HD Lightning Buster Gundam and ZGMF-1027M Duel Blitz Gundam.[3] In C.E. 75, both mobile suits were recovered by the PLANT Intelligence Division led by Yzak Joule to fight against the Kingdom of Foundation.[4]

- Boaz is the name of one of two pillars of the Biblical Solomon's Temple (the other being Jachin).
- Boaz is likely a homage to Solomon from the Universal Century timeline.
