Probably should've mentioned this earlier, but I'm actually of the opinion that Deikun's environmentalist agenda didn't forbid either returning to Earth someday when the pollution and such dies down or paying visit to other planets and moons within or outside the Solar System. It doesn't say otherwise, does it? From what I understand, immersing yourself in a non-artificial environment would be a relief to some Spacers who could use something more real, and the economic opportunities from resource-rich planets would be a bonus.
Agreed; however, Zeon Deikun believed that humanity had to leave the Earth in order to evolve and become Newtypes, because that was our true destiny. In Zeta Gundam, Char/Quattro Bajeena gives nearly the same speech as his dad to the Earth Federation right before the famous Dakar battle, and it's what drives him to use Axis as a weapon in Char's Counter-Attack. Deikun simply wanted a place where people could live peacefully in space and live up to their true potential, but Char saw first-hand how corrupt and weak the Earth-Fed government was, so he resorted to try to forcefully remove humans from Earth.
