The Blanc Phantom (ブラン・ファントム?) (aka Blanc Lion (ブラン・リオン?)) is a mobile suit that appears in the manga series Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Dust. The unit is piloted by Leo Tail.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Blanc Phantom is a prototype testbed unit based on the EMS-TC02 Phantom V2 and intended to obtain data for the "Phantom Mass Production Plan". As its name suggests, the entire MS is painted white. The data obtained by the Blanc Phantom was later incorporated in Cyclops' finalized mass production design, the Noel Wraith.
The main focus of the Blanc Phantom was to reproduce the Phantom's specialized propulsion system for a mass production unit. The transformation function was omitted and the waist side armor is a simple sub-propulsion system with no built-in armaments.
The ear-shaped parts of the head are also equipped with a Minovsky Drive based on the design concept of using the head for propulsion. The surplus energy of the Minovsky Drive is finely controlled with a larger number of I-field generators, and as a result, the "Wings of Light" effect spreads out rather than in a single phantom-like flame. This effect is called the "Phantom Mane", and its propulsion power reaches 75% of the V2 Gundam. The pilot, Leo Tail, later renamed the MS the "Blanc Lion" after the Phantom Mane effect.
As the Blanc Phantom has a Gundam-type head unit, Font originally wanted to add "Gundam" to the unit's name. However, as the name is associated with Earth Federation Forces, the name could not be arbitrarily given, and thus was denied.
Armaments[]
- Axe Gun
- A combination weapon that combines a large physical axe and a rifle. The equipment is intended for 18 meter tall MS, and thus is slightly oversized when equipped by a small MS like the Blanc Phantom.
- Flame Gun
- A beam that can be shooted from the sub-thruster in the skirt. It's possible to control the finely and aim unlike the Phantom.
- Multi-purpose Assault Weapon "Kujaku"
- A compound weapon whot combine the functions of Muramasa Blaster and Peacock Smasher. It was handed from Phantom V2 Kai and used.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Phantom Mane
- The propulsion system based on the Minovsky Drive used by the Phantom. As a result of increasing the number of I-field generators throughout the body, the "Phantom Light" can be controlled more finely, with the surplus energy now being spread out like a mane. In addition, the propulsion power exceeds the Phantom, reaching about 75% of the V2 Gundam. The I=field generators can also be used to neutralize beam attacks.
- I-field generator
I-field generator built into the entire body. Originally planned for surpress the unstable wings of light, but can used for neutralize the beams attack.
