Bisidian is a faction of space pirates introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memories of Sid. The pirate flag features a skull and crossed wrenches.

Overview[]

A space pirate organization founded by Captain Angrazzo, an ex-Federation officer who was angered by the corruption of the Earth Federation Forces, after he robbed the space battleship "Baronche". Although their main base is in Baronche, they also have a network of contacts on the colonies, Earth, and the enemy territory of Mars, and they have connections with other anti-Federation organizations. They have a strong relationship with the former national faction Euba of the colony "Fardain", and the MS they use are mainly made by the Madorna Workshop, with which they also have friendly relations. After the death of Angrazzo, Captain Ash has taken over as the leader.

It is an anti-Federation organization that engages in private plunder against the Federation Forces and interferes with on-site inspections (i.e., collecting money and looting), but at the same time they also provide relief to colony residents threatened by the Vagans, and would never side with the Vagans, who are also enemies of the Federation (in addition, they also purge Vagan informants and exposes drug shipments and other wrongdoings).

The date of its establishment is unknown, but it is believed to have been active since the A.G. 140s, when the Earth Federation government began to implement Earth-centered policies. At that time, the Earth Federation was cleansed and reformed by forceful hands such as hunting down insiders by Flit Asuno, but later the above-mentioned fraudulent activities occurred frequently in the military, resulting in worsening corruption. This led to the birth of anti-Federation organizations such as Bisidian.

After the war, with the decrease in fraudulent activities in the Federation, Bisidian disappeared, as it was no longer necessary to engage in piracy. Then, taking advantage of the contacts it had made during its pirate days, it switched its focus to the space resource exploration business. At one point it was called the "Bisidian Connection" due to its prosperity in the resource development industry. They continue to carry out activities to maintain order from the pirate days behind the scenes, and are contributing to preventing the recurrence of war.

Operational MS[]

As mentioned above, the MS operated were made by the Madorna Workshop, but in the early days they used MS that were loaded on Baronche. The on-board machines were all Federation standards, such as the Genoace and Adele. At this point, the Genoace, which was an older model, as well as the Adele, for which parts were difficult to obtain (since the Adele was a Federation machine, it was difficult to obtain consumable parts through ordinary channels), were difficult to handle for them as space pirates. However, the situation changed when Madorna learned of the Bisidian's activities and requested their cooperation.

A wide variety of MS would then be deployed, including Madorna-developed machines such as the G-Exes and Shadoll, semi-leak machines such as the G-Xiphos, and even the Dark Hound, which was developed based on the Gundam AGE-2, which was destroyed in the middle of the war. Many of the machines are painted in dark colors, making them difficult to recognize by their pirate-like specifications. Many of them also have their own unique armaments, some of which are equipped with weapons that use technology not available in the Federation.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • In Super Robot Wars BX, Shanalua Mullen will survive her death when certain conditions are met and will then return as a member of Bisidian.
  • Bisidian shares many similarities to the Crossbone Vanguard from the manga Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam. Besides the aesthetic emphasis on traditional pirate themes (skulls and crossbones, etc.), their main pilots (Seabook Arno in Crossbone and Asemu in AGE) both took on aliases and were former ace pilots of the Federation Forces in the respective universes.
  • With the exception of the Dark Hound, Bisidian Mobile Suits' model numbers start with the acronym "BMS", which presumably stands for Bisidian Mobile Suit.
