Born on Earth, Barry Abbot became a professional soldier in the Earth Federation Forces; he was said to have the ideal disposition for a superior officer. Though he is dedicated to the mission, his humanity and his compassionate attitude for a soldier's duty endears him to his subordinates. He is put in command of the Witch Hunt Squadron on the North American front in the final months of the One Year War, tasked with tracking and eliminating Zeon's "Witches". He sees Lilith Aidan like a daughter, and strives to rehabilitate the damage the war has done to her psyche.
