The Baroque Kai Kai (バロック改・改 Barokku Kai Kai?) is a mobile suit from Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Dust.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A further modification of the Baroque Kai, adding a second arm taken from a Desphys to the left shoulder, situated behind the first arm, which had also been replaced with a Galahad arm. It was expected that either the Desphys or Galahad's arm would be used according to what the situation required, leaving the unused arm on the shoulder in a stand-by state, but Evans mastered the use of both arms simultaneously. This is partly due to his own proficiency, but it is highly likely that it is due to the fact that the Baroque Kai Kai's entire body is equipped with a bio-brain that assists with the control.
Armaments[]
- Consolidated Sword
- A massive weapon integrated with the right arm, it is a large segmented sword with a total length of 40 meters. It consists of solid ingots of Gundarium alloy connected with wires. Because there is a Minovsky Drive exhaust in the sword's tip, it is possible to accelerate the sword at extremely high speed. Because of its size and toughness, the sword can even be used like a shield to guard the main body. Destroying the Segmented Sword with ballistic weaponry is difficult because of its extreme durability, however damaged segments of the sword can be purged to allow for continued usage.
- Left Arm
- After the Baroque's original left arm was severed by Ash King's Anchor, the Baroque Kai replaced with the large claw arm from a production type Galahad. The function of the left arm is basically the same as the Galahad's, but the control method has been changed from wired to wireless due to the high reaction capacity of Evans' Psycommu System. Equipped with an I-field generator, this arm moves freely at high speeds and resembles a small mobile armor rather than a bit or funnel.
- Beam Fang
- The Baroque Kai Kai adds a second left arm, which is taken from a Desphys. A set of three beam sabers mount on the secondary left arm. The beams are arrayed in claw-like fashion, and can be used as typical beam sabers or used in conjunction with the spinning mechanic in Desphys' arm to function as a beam rotor or as a beam shield.
- Beam Gun
- The Desphys arm has a beam gun in the center of of the Beam Fang. Its power is not that great, but it has a high rate-of-fire.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Phantom Light
- Like the base Baroque, the Baroque Kai Kai could use its imperfect Minovsky Drive to generate a phenomenon similar to the Record Breaker and Victory 2 Gundam's "Wings of Light", named "Phantom Light". Use of the "Phantom Light" is limited to a one hour duration, which is higher than the Phantom Gundam's limit, due to a better cooling system. Unlike the Phantom Gundam, the color of the Baroque's "Phantom Light" is blue.
- Psycommu System
- The Baroque is equipped with a Psycommu System, which receives the thought-waves of a Newtype crew member and translates them into computer commands. Using this interface, a Newtype can direct remote weapons by thought alone.
- Bio-brain
- An organic computer made in Jupiter which is housed in multiple locations within the body. They handle some of the Baroque Kai Kai's maneuvering, but take up a lot of space, which, along with the additional cooling systems, is one of the reasons for the size increase of the Baroque Kai Kai.
- I-field Generator
- Like the Phantom, the Baroque also utilizes a small I-field generators in its body to control the output of the imperfect Minovsky Drive so that it does not damage itself. This also affords it protection from beam weapon attacks. Since the Baroque's sword is so long, most of it is outside the range of the I-field, so it is still vulnerable to damage from beams.
History[]
The Baroque Kai Kai was used by Evans Silvester as the core of the mobile armor Melt Baroque. When the Melt Baroque was destroyed by the Anchor V3, Evans ejected the Baroque Kai Kai and retreated. He repaired the Baroque Kai Kai within a transport ship that was surrendering to the Cyclops before going to disrupt the Dust Plan and destroy the colony Neo Bunch 1, however the Baroque Kai Kai could not keep up with the speed of the Anchor V4, and the Head Harvester was finally killed.
