Artificial Womb

The Artificial Womb is a technology introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

History[]

The Artificial Womb was created by Ulen Hibiki, lead scientist of the GARM R&D laboratory at the Mendel Colony, as part of the Ultimate Coordinator Project. Seeking to overcome the inherent flaw in the Coordinator's genetic structure, Ulen developed the Artificial Womb to allow all aspects of the fetus' development to be regulated. Despite the successful completion of the machine, the project saw several failed attempts at creating an Ultimate Coordinator. It wasn't until May of C.E. 55 that a fully successful Ultimate Coordinator was born, Ulen's own son, Kira. However, after the success, Blue Cosmos attacked the colony and destroyed the laboratory, including the Artificial Womb and all data related to it.^[1]
