Disambiguation:

The Armored Personnel Carrier (兵員輸送車 Heiin Yusō-sha?), or simply the APC, is a vehicle which appears in ONA Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.[1]

Technology & Characteristics[]

Developed by the Earth Federation Forces, the six-wheeled APC was a light and compact armored vehicle primarily for troop transport. Its layout included the front cabin for a driver on the left with a passenger on the right. Its troops compartment had the capacity of approximately 6 - 8 soldiers and troop's movement could be facilitated via the hatched door at the back.[1] The APC was not armed with any weapons, but it was equipped with 2 sets of quadruple smoke dischargers on both side of the chassis as defensive devices.[1] Moreover, troops inside the compartment can fire at the enemies via six hatched doors at the rooftop with their own firearms, at the risk of their bodies exposed to open attacks.[1] The front cabin also features openable large doors for driver and passenger movement, as well as a pair of flappable front hatches for better driving vision during non-combat situation.[1]

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Quadruple Smoke Discharger
Mounted on each side of the APC, these dischargers can launch smoke rounds, enshrouding the vehicle in an obscuring layer of smoke, making it difficult for the enemy to target.

History[]

The APC was produced in large numbers and they are deployed by the Earth Federation Ground Force as a light and convenient troop carrier across the Earth during the One Year War, most notably in the Eastern European frontlines. An example being a travelling EFGF's APC loaded with soldiers were seen escorted by a couple of Sidecars in November, U.C. 0079 when the Zeon attackers led by Cpt. Iria Solari hijacked the APC along with EFF soldiers' equipment and uniforms for their GM-jack operation at the EFGF's mobile suit base near The Olt in central Romania. The Zeon infiltrators were on the way when they were being attacked by a couple of aerial Gouf Customs belonged to the Midnighters Squadron who were patrolling the enemy's area. While Solari's and co. escaped the friendly fire unharmed, the APC sustained serious damage and had to be abandoned with the gang chose to walk to the targeted base under night cover instead.[1]
