The Anchor V4 (aka Anchor Version 4, Crossbone Gundam Dust) is a custom mobile suit and upgraded form of the Anchor V3 that appears in the manga series Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Dust. The unit is piloted by Ash King.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Anchor V4 is the upgraded form of the Anchor V3, replacing the "V3 Thruster" Minovsky Drive unit with the "V4 Thruster". The V4 Thruster was developed in tandem with the V3 Thruster, but was not completed at the same time, with its performance lacking when the V3 Thruster was rolled out. In addition to the V4 Thruster, the Anchor V4 has removed the Heat Ceramic Bullets from its chest, added an additional Rotating Shield, and is now equipped with an escape parachute in case the Anchor V4 is destroyed.
During the development of the V3 and V4 Thrusters, the V4 Thruster was referred to as the "Dust Thruster". This nickname was derived from the fact that the V4 Thruster used explosions as a propellant. Coincidentally, the V4 Thruster's shape resembled those of the Crossbone Gundams, and thus the Anchor V4 is sometimes referred to as the "Crossbone Gundam Dust".
Armaments[]
- Head Cutter
- A cutter mounted on the head. It rotates at high speed and is used for head-butting attacks. When heat is dissipated, it transforms into a V-shape to form a Gundam-like head silhouette.
- Rotating Shield
- A defensive armament connected to both arms, they can be used as an offensive weapon by rotating the shield at high speeds.
- I-Field
- Equipment added to the Rotating Shield during the execution of the "Dust Plan".
- Ikarimaru
- A large beam saber with an anchor shape. It is meant for 40 meter tall mobile suits, such as the Murasame which was its intended user, but eventually fell into the hands of Ash King. As the Ikarimaru has built-in thrusters, even a smaller mobile suit like the Anchor can use it, but the operational time is greatly shortened due to the lower generator output. The wire has been changed to a thick and durable one, and a drum for storing the wire has been added to the rear of the right shoulder to store it. This is because the previous wire drum on the right arm is out of volume. Not only the strength of the wire, but also the length has been extended, and the attack radius reaches up to 60 m.
- Moby Dick Buster
- A large weapon for anti-mobile armor warfare, consisting of a harpoon with a wire and a rifle. The harpoon can deliver an electric current by piercing the target. While the rifle lacks rapid fire capabilities, it has high power per shot, and it has a blade under the barrel.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- V4 Thruster
- Also known as the "Dust Thruster", the V4 Thruster relies on explosive cartridges for propulsion; by controlling the kinetic energy created from high pressure explosions, it could be used to propel the Anchor V4 in any direction. The explosives used for the propulsion are stored in cartridge cases and supplied from the backpack to the thruster unit via belt. The V4 Thruster is symmetrical in shape, and the sides of the thrusters will slide to eject empty cartridge cases to prevent them from colliding with the main body of the MS. The side that does not eject a cartridge case will then become a regular thruster, and can be used for attitude control. Due to the nature of the V4 Thruster, it can cause damage to the MS and pilot due to the intense acceleration, as well as the thrusters in general due to the explosive method of thrust. As such, the V4 Thruster is designed for single-use only, and is intended to be expendable.
