Akatsuki Island is an island of the Orb Archipelago on Earth, introduced in the anime OVA Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: After-Phase Between the Stars.

Overview[]

Akatsuki Island is a small island with a circumference of less than a few kilometers.

History[]

In C.E. 75, following the aftermath of the Eldore incident, the survivors of the Archangel and Compass would retreat to Akatsuki Island to recover their combat strength, regain their bearings, and plan to ascent to space to retrieve the abducted Lacus Clyne in the Artemis fortress that was repaired by the Kingdom of Foundation. The island is also where Erica Simmons kept and upgraded formerly ZAFT mobile suits (ZGMF-56E2 Impulse Gundam Spec II, ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II, ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II) to modern specs.
