Aila's Betrayal is the twentieth episode of Gundam Build Fighters .
Synopsis[]
The fighting in the tournament finals is becoming ever more fierce. Having advanced to the best 8, Ricardo Fellini, the Italian Dandy, faces his next battle. His opponent is Aila Jyrkiäinen, the top fighter of Team Nemesis, who crushed the previous tournament champion Carlos Kaiser. With its speed and wealth of combat experience, Fellini's Wing Gundam Fenice puts up a hard fight against Aila's Qubeley Papillon, which has remained an undefeated legend since the qualifiers.

- The Ptolemaios from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is used to deploy PPSE's A5 unit.
- PPSE's order to cancel all development of A5 is a nod to episode 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, where Cardeas Vist ordered the R&D team to cancel the development of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam and erase all records of it after its first flight.
- The reveal of the unit itself bears a striking resemblance to the GNT-0000 00 Qan[T]'s reveal in the opening sequence of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie -A wakening of the Trailblazer-
- While being hypnotized by Nils, Sei recites Amuro Ray's lines from Mobile Suit Gundam. Most notably, Sei's facial expressions whilst reciting the lines match Amuro's expressions from the series.
- While it appeared during Meijin Kawaguchi's debut battle back in episode 10, Field 4: Mountain is actually named.
- The Gundam franchise is no stranger to setting emotional moments in mountain snowscapes. While this episoded featured the destruction of the Wing Gundam Fenice, other moments include
- In episode 10 of After War Gundam X, Garrod Ran suffered just as devastating a defeat to Carris Nautilus's bit-equipped RMSN-008 Bertigo in a similarly snowy field.
- Shiro Amada and Aina Sahalin (whose name Aila has partially borrowed as an alias) also have a pivotal encounter in the mountain snow, resulting in the ruination of Shiro's Gundam Ground Type.
- A snowy mountain landscape was the setting where Shinn Asuka in the ZGMF-X56S/α Force Impulse Gundam defeated Kira Yamato's ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam during Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, in episode 34.
- After Mr. Ral wishes Fellini good luck, Fellini says "The Itallian Dandy's not just for show", this is a reference to Amuro's line "This ν Gundam isn't just for show!" from the movie Char's Counterattack.
- Wing Gundam Fenice's self destruct system is canonical to the original, something all the Gundams of Operation Meteor were equipped with.
- The exact style of the cockpit switch most closely resembles that of the Gundam Deathscythe.
- Fellini is ultimately thwarted in his attempt by an angry lecture from his love interest, Kirara. Trowa Barton's attempt at self-detonation was interdicted in a similar fashion (by Catherine Bloom) in episode 13 of New Mobile Report Gundam Wing.
