The MAX-03R Adzam Repair is a variant of MAX-03 Adzam that first appeared in manga Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Rebellion.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Adzam Repair is a locally modified MAX-03 Adzam by Kimbareid Forces that is mainly designed for base defense.[1] As a unit that intended for defensive purpose, it was modified with larger and thicker armor on its fuselage, cockpit replaced by MS-05B Zaku I upper body, Apsaras III parts such as minovsky craft system, four folding legs, and mega particle cannon. This modification makes the Adzam Repair a formidable defensive unit, while maintaining mobility as "mobile cannon" via minovsky craft system. Despite such improvements, it was an incomplete unit that had multiple critical flaws. The Mega Particle Cannon can only be fired effectively when its attached to the Kimbareid Base reactor via large cable, which was detachable if necessary or damaged, but affect its firing capabilities significantly.[1] The lack of armor and hatch makes the Mega Particle Cannon vulnerable to enemy fire, or kamikaze, which can cause critical damage to it. Another weakness is that the Zaku I unit that replaced the cockpit segment very vulnerable due to its larger profile, which can be easily shot by skilled pilot.[2]
Armaments[]
- Mega Particle Cannon
- The Adzam Repair is armed with the mega particle cannon used by the Apsaras III. The weapon is able to project a thin beam just outside the barrel for a free range of motion without having to move the cannon itself. At full output, the charging process has the beam energy being shaped like an hour-glass before firing. If the energy cable connected to the Adzam Repair is severed or detached, it is only able to store enough energy to fire the mega particle cannon once.
- 2-barrel Mega Particle Gun
- Carried over from the original Adzam, the Adzam Repair is armed with eight twin-barreled mega particle gun turrets, four mounted around the upper part of the main body and four around the underside. The positioning of the turrets provides the Adzam Repair with 360 degrees of protection.
- H&L-SB25K/280mmA-P Zaku Bazooka
- A 280mm Zaku Bazooka is wielded by the Zaku I unit mounted on the top of the Adzam Repair.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Minovsky Craft System
- Since it is made up of charged particles, the I-field is unable to penetrate metal, water, the Earth's surface, or other electrically conductive materials and can be shaped simply by trapping it in an electromagnetic field. Thus, at low altitudes it is possible to generate an I-field cushion between the underside of a vessel and the ground, yielding a gravity-countering buoyancy. This principle is used in the creation of the Minovsky Craft System, which allowed a spaceship or heavy ground vehicle to fly or hover on Earth.
History[]
In U.C 0083, The Adzam Repair was deployed at the defense of HLV that carry RX-78GP02 Gundam "Physalis" in Kimbareid Base, against the Earth Federation Forces' MSC-07 Albion's and its MS corps.[3] It was piloted by Neuen Bitter. During the battle it manage to hold Albion and its MS corps at bay, while dealing damage to the Albion with its Mega Particle Cannon. However it was cut short when RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" manage to sneak around and cut its power supply cable, forcing it to move closer at the Albion. Unfortunately it was destroyed when Dick Allen's FF-XII Core Fighter II rammed the mega particle cannon unit, and its MS-05B Zaku I unit shot by Gundam GP01.[4] Fortunately its effort weren't in vain as it allows the HLV to escape the base and made it to its target objective.[2]
