The Ad-Unit Rang is a variant of MA-05Ad Big Rang that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The Ad-Unit Rang is retrofitted version of MA-05Ad Big Rang's Ad-Unit to support Delaz Fleet in their Operation Stardust.[1] Because of its role as support unit, it was modified with a compartment to conceal the RX-78GP02A Gundam "Physalis" in order to keep it unharmed from enemy fire. Due to its large profile and lack of mobility, it was equipped with several offensive alongside defensive measure such as a pair of Mega Particle Cannon and Beam Dispersal Screen.[2] Thanks to the modifications makes the it a unit that can withstand enemy barrage, while delivering the Gundam GP02 to its target.

Armaments[]

  • Mega Particle Cannon
Mounted in the fuselage of Ad-Unit is a pair powerful mega particle cannon. This weapon fires a focused beam of massive, high-velocity mega-particles, which cannot be deflected by magnetic fields and tears through any conventional armor material. This weapon has been shown to have enough power to destroy several Salamis-class cruisers with a single shot.
  • Beam Dispersal Missile Launcher
The Ad-Unit Rang was equipped with sveral Beam Dispersal Missile Launchers mounted on each on either side of Ad-Unit. Each missile could deploy a beam dispersal screen, which could withstand the beam cannons from the main guns of a Salamis-class for a limited time.

  • Compartment Bay
Inside Ad-Unit Rang's massive is a modified compartment bay which can house the Gundam GP02 inside it.

  • According to Masato Natsumoto, the creation for AD-Unit Rang was inspired by MA-05Ad Big Rang's Ad-Unit supposed origin as a super dreadnaught Mobile Armor unit for base assault purpose unit.
