The AVP-03 Gundam Lfrith Anavata (AVP-03 ガンダム・ルブリス・アノクタ Gandamu Ruburisu Anokuta?) (also known as "Rubris Anocta"[citation needed]) is a mobile suit introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury - Vanadis Heart. It is piloted by Yoshika Hygeia.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The AVP-03 Lfrith Anavata is a variant of the XGF-01 Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production Model that emphasized on close combat. It also shares characteristics with the XGF-01[Ⅱ3] Gundam Lfrith Jiu and is said to be a combat version of that unit.[1] Like other GUND-ARMs, it utilizes GUND Format technology to enhance its combat capabilities and power its remote Narukami GUND-BIT weapons.

Armaments[]

  • Beam Vulcan
A pair of Beam Vulcans are mounted in the head. These are weak rapid-firing beam weapons used for dealing with lightly-armored vehicles, intercepting missiles, and damaging mobile suits at close ranges.
  • Beam Gun
A beam firearm connected to the backpack. It is the standard firearm for this unit, which is not equipped with a Beam Rifle or other portable firearm. There are two mounted on the unit.[2]
  • Gurenge
Defensive equipment to which the Narukami are mounted. When the Narukami are being wielded, or when attacking directly with them mounted, the rotating mechanism at the base is used. The Gurenge can hold both Narukami.[2]
  • Narukami
A lightning-conductive blade-type GUND-BIT. When operated remotely, an intermittent electric discharge is produced between the blades and the electricity-generating Manipulator. The mist ducts located across the unit can be used to emit dielectric mist and increase the relative permittivity of the surrounding air, making the electric shock damage even greater. The Narukami can also be wielded as traditional handheld melee weapons, while still retaining the electric connection between the Manipulators and the blades. When not in use, they are stored in the Gurenge.[2]

Equipment[]

  • Shell Unit
A control terminal that emits light when GUND Format operation reaches a certain level. The Shell Unit on its chest has a canard configuration that is designed with aerodynamics in mind.[2]
  • Hover Unit
The feet are fitted with a high-capacity, low noise Hover Unit, enabling movements that are both silent and quick. One is mounted on the heel of each foot.[2]
  • Electricity Emitter
A circular emitter in the palm of both Manipulators which generates an electric discharge. It is primarily used to increase the attack power of the Narukami, which are lightning-conductive, by augmenting the blade with lightning.[2]
  • Mist Ducts
Located throughout the Anavata's body are mist ducts, which emit dielectric mist to increase the relative permittivity of the surrounding air. This allows the Anavata to effectively shoot electricity with the emitters on both palms to attack enemies or charge the remote Narukami with electricity.[2]

History[]

In A.S. 106, the Gundam Lfrith Anavata was piloted by Yoshika Hygeia of the Rocking Horse Orphanage and operated under the Vanadis Institute's control.[3] In one battle, the Anavata dueled the XGF-01[Ⅱ3] Gundam Lfrith Jiu piloted by Yoshika's former friend Kiyu Lavot. It managed to sever the Jiu's left arm, but was ultimately defeated.[4] The damaged unit was later recovered by the Vanadis Institute.[5]
