The ASW-G-32 Gundam Asmoday (ガンダム・アスモデウス?) is a mobile suit introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS Urdr-Hunt mobile game. It is piloted by Renzie Dablisco.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The ASW-G-32 Gundam Asmoday is one of the rare mobile suits that utilized the Gundam Frame, only 72 such units were developed by the end of the Calamity War, which concluded over 300 years ago.[1][2] It went missing after the war, and was thought to be lost in battle.[1][2] However, it was discovered by chance in the debris zone, an area that is hard to transverse.[1][2] The Asmoday had retained its original form since its development, making it a rare case where a mobile suit was preserved under perfect conditions with a full arsenal of unused weapons.[1][2]

The standard weaponry of the Asmoday consisted of a pair of forearm-mounted Grand Tonfas, a handheld Gigant Javelin, a handheld 110mm Rifle, two sets of Leg Claws, and four Grenades stored on the sides of its waist.[1] The basic tactic used by the Asmoday involves restricting the target's movements using its Rifle, then entering close combat range through the distractions caused by the Grenades, followed up by restraining the target with the Leg Claws, and finally attacking with the Grand Tonfas.[1] Targets that avoid close combat are fought using the Gigant Javelin.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Grand Tonfa
Main armaments of the Asmoday, the pair of Grand Tonfas are explosive pile drivers made from rare alloy.[1][3] They are mounted on the forearms and can be rotated to engage enemy units at the front or rear.[1][3] Using explosive firing mechanisms, the Tonfas can be shot into targets at point-blank range to penetrate all kinds of armor.[1][3] The cartridge cases of the explosives are discharged after every shot.[1] When fighting mobile suits, the Tonfas are shot into the front of the enemy machines.[3] Against mobile armors, the Tonfas are shot into the enemies' belly.[3] When surrounded, the Asmoday can cross its forearms and fire both Tonfas simultaneously.[3] After penetrating the enemy armor, the Grand Tonfas can be used as regular tonfas.[3]
  • Gigant Javelin
A close-to-medium range handheld armament, it can be thrown like a javelin as its name implies, or be used like a sword.[1] The sword section has a built-in thruster mechanism and can be launched from the handle through a connecting wire.[1]
  • 110mm Rifle
A 110mm caliber middle-range rifle, its short size allows the Grand Tonfas to be used without interference.[1] The skirt armor on the Asmoday's rear waist has a mounting mechanism for storing this handheld armament.[1]
  • Leg Claw
Claws are hidden in the soles and can be used to secure the Asmoday or restrain targets.[1]
  • Grenade
The Asmoday is equipped with four grenades stored on the sides of its waist.[1] Smoke screens generated from these grenades can be used as an excellent distraction when launching close combat attacks using Grand Tonfas.[1]

History[]

One of 72 Gundam Frame mobile suits developed by the end of the Calamity War, the Gundam Asmoday went missing after the war.[1][2] It was left undiscovered in the debris zone for approximately 300 years before it was found by chance.[1][2] There was no battle record of the Asmoday, leading to speculations that the war ended before it was deployed in combat.[1][2]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Asmoday (also known as Asmodeus or Ashmodai) is the 32nd demon of the Ars Goetia and holds the rank of King. He appears as a three-headed being, with heads of a bull, a man, and a ram, with the tail of a serpent riding atop a dragon holding a lance. He governs over 72 legions of inferior spirits among the Legions of Amaymon, and represents the sin of lust in Peter Binsfeld's classification of demons.
    • The Gundam Asmoday is the second Gundam Frame to be revealed whose namesake holds the title of 'King', the first being Gundam Bael.
    • For reasons unknown, the name "Asmodeus" was selected for the Japanese name, while the English name uses the Peterson spelling of the name "Asmoday".
