The AMX-116S Zaku IV S Type is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Moon Gundam and is piloted by Illia Pazom.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
During the First Neo Zeon War, the Neo Zeon forces developed the Zaku III with an updated numbering to outperform Earth Federation mobile suits. However, it was the competing unit, the Doven Wolf, that secured itself as the next generation mainstay mobile suit. Regardless, due to the Zaku III’s reliable performance, many variations were informally developed, much like the Zaku II.
The Zaku IV is a machine that inherits the concepts of the MS-05 Zaku I, MS-06 Zaku II, and AMX-011 Zaku III. It maintains its high output, heavy armor, and high versatility as a high-end suit and can be outfitted with various units as tail options, allowing it to be converted to local warfare specifications with the need for significant modifications. Beam cannons that were once mounted around the waist and mouth are now concentrated in the head, where they can be used as a battery. It is also equipped with a large shield, two beam machine guns, and two beam knuckle dusters as standard equipment to ensure its basic combat abilities in close at mid-range combat. It has also been equipped with spare magazines and propellant tanks in various locations. The basic equipment layout is more mass-produced and more rational.
In addition to the commander specs, this exclusive unit for Illia Pazon is equipped with a space-use high mobility skirt unit, commonly known as the “Princess Unit” and at the same time can also operate funnels so that it is adjusted closely with the pilot.
Armaments[]
- Head Beam Cannon
- Two are mounted on the forehead instead of the single Zaku III mouth one so they work more efficiently as a turret.
- Shield
- A large sturdy shield mounted on the right shoulder. Five spare E-Pacs for the Beam Machine Guns are stored on the inside.
- Beam Machine Gun
- Two handheld short-barreled rapid fire beam guns are equipped in this machine instead of the Zaku III's fixed waist beam cannons for better maneuverability. When not in use they are stored on the backpack's cases.
- Beam Knuckle Duster
- Two handheld short beam blades are this machine's standard melee weapons. When not in use they are stored on the side waist armor's mounts.
- Large Heat Hawk
- A giant heat axe with higher output than the older models. Heat weapons are superior to beam weapons because they allow for a longer operational time due to better energy efficiency. When not in use it can be stored on the rear of the Shield.
- Funnel
- Six funnels that are an earlier and larger version of the Jadg Doga ones are stored in the Princess Unit. The tip is equipped with a single beam cannon with adjustable output. These funnels have a limited supply for fuel and power, requiring recharge in the Princess Unit.
- Cluster Missile
- Twelve small missiles are stored inside each Funnel's body in trios. When firing the launch ports open sideways. They are used to confuse Psycommu enemy pilots by creating a cluster of heat sources from a barrage, but are capable of damaging enemy mobile suits and ships.
- Long Range Beam Rifle
- A beam rifle with a very long barrel, equipped with a dedicated sensor and a monopod. When not in use it can be stored on the rear of the Shield.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Princess Unit
- Designed as a part of the mobile suit's rear skirt, the Princess unit is a massive armored unit housing its own power supply dedicated to recharge racks for six funnels, as well as heavy thruster units and propellant storage. This boosts the mobile suit's speed, mobility, and combat range while also housing Newtype weaponry for its pilot.
- Propellant Tank
- The backpack of the Zaku IV S Type can mount a pair of propellant tanks, allowing the mobile suit to extend its combat range with extra fuel. When emptied, the tanks can be jettisoned to reduce dead weight.
