The AMX-014R Reben Wolf is a mobile suit featured in Advance of Zeta Re-Boot: Gundam Inle series.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

The AMX-014R Reben Wolf was developed by Zeon Mars, a Zeon remnant army on Mars that collaborated with Axis (later Neo Zeon), to create and deliver a modified AMX-014 Döven Wolf to Earth. This version featured unique improvements, making it an advanced mass-production model. To maximize the number of units sent to Axis, the focus was on improving productivity by reducing costs. As a result, it shared several components—both external and internal—with the Zaku III-R, a model officially adopted by Zeon Mars. [1]

The prototype mobile suit's heavy armament, including its numerous weapons and quasi-Psycommu systems, was difficult for ordinary pilots to operate effectively. Additionally, its excessive thrust risked compromising maneuverability. To address these issues, certain built-in weapons and propulsion systems deemed unnecessary were made optional, allowing for a more adaptable loadout based on mission requirements.[1]

One such adjustment was making the chest-mounted mega particle cannons optional, giving pilots the flexibility to choose the number of cannons installed. If multiple cannons were omitted, the unit could instead be equipped with a beam machine gun—designed in the same style as the later MSN-03 Jagd Doga’s beam assault rifle—or an anti-ship rifle, replacing the standard mega launcher.[1]

The arms can be swapped for standard versions—similar in appearance to those of the Zaku III—that lack separation and remote control functions. Additionally, the backpack can be customized with a multi-connector pod, attached via a drum frame mounted on the abdomen. Along with supporting the same equipment as the prototype’s backpack, it can also accommodate missile pods, beam launchers, and grenade launchers.[1]

Further customization options include arm-mounted missiles on the forearm armor, a mount latch on the lower back capable of storing two beam sabers, and two spare magazines for the anti-ship rifle positioned on each side of the groin. A propellant tank can also be attached to the backpack to enhance operational endurance. Meanwhile, the head retains the two Vulcan cannons featured in the original prototype.[1]

Compared to the prototype, the Reben Wolf featured a more rounded exterior with a stronger Zeon aesthetic. This design choice stemmed from Zeon Mars engineers' preference, as they reportedly disliked the angular, Federation-like appearance of the original. Additionally, the Reben Wolf incorporated mechanisms from a new mobile suit design completed at Axis, which would later influence the development of the Doga series.[1]

Armaments[]

  • Beam Rifle
  • Beam Sword-Axe
A beam weapon for close combat. It has two built-in beam emitters, allowing it to generate a sword-like beam blade, a short pick-shaped blade with high penetrating power, and an axe-shaped blade with high cutting power, depending on the situation. Two beam sword-axes are mounted on the rear skirt armor when not in use.
  • 8-Tube Grenade Launcher
A grenade launcher capable of holding eight grenades mounted into its backpack. It is the same type that is mounted on the OMS-09DRF RF Desert Dom.

Special Equipment & Features[]

History[]

More than a dozen units were produced and transported aboard the Chester Jr. Earth Deployment Fleet (also known as the Chester Space Fleet) [1]. However, by the time they arrived in the Earth Sphere, an internal conflict had erupted within Neo Zeon. As a result, the units were never delivered and were instead sent back to Mars.

Upon their return, they found Mars under the control of a hostile Zeon remnant faction known as ReZeon. With no safe harbor, the fleet proceeded with a planetary descent operation, deploying the units as the main force in the Phobos Spaceport battle.
