The AMX-011P Zaku III Psycommu Equipment Type (ザクⅢ サイコミュ装備型 Zaku Ⅲ Saikomyu Sōbi-gata?) is a mobile suit first introduced in the smartphone game Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The AMX-011P Zaku III is a Psycommu-equipped version of the highly versatile and expandable AMX-011 Zaku III. Such plan exist since the Zaku III's initial development stage. Although it is equipped with Psycommu weapons, it is intended to be operated while preserving ease of maintenance and compatibility, so some parts are shared with the AMX-011S Zaku III Custom. The shoulder binders were partly diverted from the technology of the NZ-000 Queen Mansa, which was developed around the same time. Equipped with a beam bazooka and funnels, it has tremendous amount of firepower.
Although development was almost complete at the end of the first Neo Zeon War, the war ended before it was put into actual combat, and it never appeared on the front lines. However, when the Newborn Neo Zeon, led by Char, began aggressively developing Newtype-use mobile weapons, this mobile suit again attracted attention and was used as a test bed for Psycommu weapons. The original funnels were replaced with a new prototype funnel, and the data obtained from this mobiel suit was fed back to Char's AMS-120X Geara Doga Psycommu System Test Type.
Armaments[]
- 2 x 30mm Vulcan Gun
- These head mounted shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but have little power and are generally ineffective against mobile suits, though it can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. These weapons are ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
- Head Beam Cannon
- The Zaku III Psycommu Equipment Type possesses a high-output beam cannon mounted in the "mouth" of the mobile suit, with a power rating of 1.6 MW.
- Beam Cannon/Beam Saber
- Mounted on the front skirt armor and hand operated in use, the barrel units of the pair of beam cannons can be ejected and used as beam sabers. Both the beam cannon and beam saber modes have a power rating of 2.8 MW.
- Beam Bazooka
- Resembling the Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka used by Zeon in the One Year War, this bazooka is a refined model, with a more advanced targeting sensor for increased accuracy and range. It used compact E-Cap technology, which allowed the bazooka to be charged from the mobile suit's reactor itself - allowing for a shorter amount of time required for charges between shots.
- Prototype Funnel
- The most powerful weapon in the Zaku III Psycommu Equipment Type's arsenal is its Newtype-use remote weaponry - the eight funnels mounted on the interior of its shoulder binders. The mobile suit stores four funnels in each of its binders on storage racks.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Psycommu System
- A man-machine interface exclusively for Newtypes. This system allows a Newtype pilot to control the mobile suit and its remote weaponry by thoughts alone.
- External Propellant Tank
- Two external tanks used for propellant storage, they are mounted to the rear skirt armor. This extra propellant greatly extends a mobile suit's operating range and enables it to stay in combat longer. When the propellant is consumed, the tanks can be discarded to reduce the mobile suit's weight.
History[]
Though it was nearly completed by the end of the First Neo Zeon War, the AMX-011P Zaku III Psycommu Equipment Type never saw combat. After the war ended, weapons developers for Char's Neo Zeon began aggressively developing exclusive-use mobile suits for Newtypes, and the Zaku III Psycommu Equipment Type became a test bed for Psycommu weapons. The original funnels were replaced with a new prototype funnel, and the results of tests with this mobile suit were used to refine Char's AMS-120X Geara Doga Psycommu System Test Type.
