The A-GXQ754/V2 Zeus Silhouette is a support machine introduced in the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A Silhouette pack originally developed by ZAFT for the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam during the Second Alliance-PLANT War, but was sealed away due to fears that it was too powerful to be used safely. It consisted of a large linear cannon with two replacement barrels, a backpack assembly with sensors and missile launchers, additional rear skirt and chest armor, and large leg booster units with built-in missile launchers. The leg boosters compensated for the additional weight when the Zeus Silhouette is equipped by a mobile suit. The linear cannon's barrel has to be replaced after each shot, and due to the weapon's huge energy consumption, it can only be operated continuously by a nuclear-powered machine. However, a battery-powered mobile suit like the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam could be equipped with it and fire a single shot without any issue. Additionally, the Zeus Silhouette's parts can combine into an autonomous flight form.
Armaments[]
- Large Linear Cannon
- The main component of the Zeus Silhouette, this linear cannon fires large-caliber physical rounds at high velocities, giving it the ability to destroy even superweapons in a single shot. The physical rounds of this weapon is said to incorporate positrons. When used, the weapon's barrel is attached to the main cannon assembly by the equipped mobile suit manually before firing, and the barrel is replaced after each shot. The Zeus Silhouette carries two spare barrels, limiting it to three shots per sortie. The linear cannon is connected to the Zeus Silhouette's backpack assembly via a jointed arm for support purposes. When used by the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam and ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II, their shield can be attached to the side of the linear cannon.
- Missile Launcher
- Multiple missile launchers are built into the Zeus Silhouette's backpack assembly and leg booster units. The backpack assembly has two missile launchers loaded with four large missiles each, and 20 missile launchers each loaded with three small missiles, while each of the leg boosters featured two quadruple missile launchers.
History[]
The Zeus Silhouette was developed during the Second Alliance-PLANT War for the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam as a bunker buster weapon. However, it was sealed away due to fears that it was too powerful to be used safely.
The Zeus Silhouette was later deployed during the Freedom Hijacking Incident in December of C.E. 74, and was seen on the battlefield during a duel between the stolen ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom and Liu Shenqiang's NOG-M4F Rud-ro.A.[1]
In May of C.E. 75 during the Foundation Conflict, the Zeus Silhouette was used by the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam piloted by Mu La Flaga to destroy a Mirage Colloid-cloaked relay ring stationed above the Requiem strategic weapon. The Zeus Silhouette was then passed over to Shinn Asuka's ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II to destroy the Requiem for good.[1]
