Most funnels use AMBAC movement to move around in space. i don’t think funnels are meant to be used under gravity in the UC timeline. however, we did see the Kshatriya use them in an episode of Unicorn. the funnels had a lot of trouble trying to stay “afloat” in the air, and they couldn’t position themselves well enough to aim. and not to mention that this was in a “weaker-than-earth” gravity environment in a colony. gravity greatly affects the funnels’ calibration with the MS and the pilot. the funnel thrusters now have to compensate for a large downward force, and with every movement that the funnel makes, it isn’t as responsive as in zero-gravity conditions. the Kshatriya tried using them and missed, and instead of hitting the Re-ZEL, it missed and hit the reactor in the colony, causing collateral damage. the only “funnels” in the UC timeline that are “unaffected” by gravity are the Xi (Ξ) and Penelope funnel missiles. these remote weaponry funnel missiles are specifically calibrated to work under gravity conditions. hence why they are able to make use of minovsky-particles to stay afloat, find, and hit its target with relative ease. they are also extremely responsive and precise, and have a relatively low marginal error due to the high calibration between the newtype pilot and the missiles. hope this helps!
