Welcome! This is the thread for proposing projects. Here you may propose for a certain set of pages on this Wiki that you are passionate about to be edited collaboratively as part of a project. Make your proposal open to discussion, please respect others who may also want to contribute to the potential project.
You may also submit projects here.
2020-11-15: Request for Comments: Projects - Editing more collaboratively as a community
The discussion is now closed and what is laid out in this section of the opening post and what has been discussed about it has now been formally codified into this page.
We've all been editing on the fly. We just don't know what's going on in the heads of the other editors without talking to each other.
On Wookieepdia, they have what's called WookieProjects
So for top priority content on this wiki, I propose a similar projects system.
What is a project?
A project, led by an admin, can concern a specific work, it can be a multimedia franchise, it can be pages in a certain category, it can be infrastructure such as templates or Lua modules etc.
If one wants to get involved with a project, one should check its project page (see below) first before editing.
If one is contributing to a project, one is expected to work as a team. Communicate regularly in discussions, talk pages and message walls, let other contributors know what one is doing or intends to do.
Explain what one has changed when submitting an edit, no matter how minor.
As the Star Wars Wiki creates project pages under the Wookiepedia: namespace.
We'd create project pages under the Gundam_Wiki: namespace
These namespaces are just aliases for the generic "Project:" namespace.
Let Project: The Origin (or equivalently, Gundam Wiki: The Origin) concern all Origin related pages.
On that page, it could list who's collaborating and who's leading (this can be done easily by adding the project name as a category to a contributors' profile).
It will list objectives, subtasks etc.
Additionally, all pages that the project concerns would need to have a special notice template (this could be at the bottom of the page). This template could state the name of the admin responsible for the project and "This page is part of Project: The Origin", linking back to the project page and automatically categorising the page as being part of that project.
Project Proposals
For users passionate about what could be a new project, they would discuss it with us Bureaucrat Admins, and if it were to work out they can lead a project themselves. Let us gather ideas here.
