I would like to know why everyone things that seed and seed destiny are the worst gundam seasons. i honestly thought everyone hated g gundam the most so please tell me what your thoughts.
Oh okay take your time mos
Seed I personally feel is great while Seed Destiny on the other hand is only okay for the first 26-28 episodes before going downhill fast. The three big reasons I have seen for while people hate it is
1) It is a modern homage to the original 0079 which makes UC fans especially diehards judge it more harshly than most other series.
2) Kira is a gary sue which people don't like in a protagonist.
3) A lot of people in general bundle together Seed and Destiny together where they will list problems from Destiny as if that is what is wrong with Seed. For example people disliking Shin. Personally this is the stupidest reason as it would be like bundling Zeta and ZZ together and saying Zeta sucks because of the Moon Moon gundam arc.
-So I will try to be brief. I think it has a lot of production issues and technical issues that people heavily dislike, as well as dislike of certain character and plot developments. Basically, as I understand, a ton of money went into the voice cast. So they had essentially the top names they could have ever asked for. But they would then cut corners in other areas because they didn't have the money. And it isn't something that can carry over to dubs, if you spend all your money on visuals, that's one thing, but you can't keep the expensive voice tracks from your original seiyuu cast when a company thousands of miles away grabs the rights for a localized dub. So an extremely common thing for them to do was reuse footage, but whereas in older stuff you could tell if a background or cel sequence was repeated immediately, SEED was CG, so they could just wire map other models to follow the same tracks. Recolor units or put different renders over them, drop in new backgrounds, et cetera, and there is a ton of it. They have supercuts of comparison clips for all the stock footage used. It was also somewhat generic for the time in composition, which isn't so much its fault as the trends of the time. Kira is fairly hypocritical and at the same time immutable, so his main goal of putting a stop to the warring by charging in and escalating conflict tends to land on people poorly. And adding to that, upon receiving the MS about halfway, two thirds through SEED, which could very much do essentially what he wants to do in his character arc, protecting his friends without killing anyone, his development stops there. He survives an explosion without any explanation as to how he could have done so, and then continues on his crusade of chastising the warring forces for said warring and plans to stop this with additional warring. Athrun does go through an arc in SEED, but it is completely undone in Destiny. Essentially the same thing happens with Cagalli, who is a very capable independent character SEED, who is then reduced to a damsel in distress for Destiny. The mechanical designs are sort of flat to me, the motivations for villains tend to be weak, and thematically it is based on the story beats of 0079 and Zeta, but it can't do it better than those UC series did, or use them as an effective springboard into something compellingly original or unique enough, so it is a little like watching a movie remake that doesn't really capture what the original had. It was made for a new batch of audience demographics, it wanted to pull in people other than avowed Gundam/mecha fans in a way that Wing had not done entirely to their liking, an odd opposite where Wing was not beloved in Japan but was here, as it was the first taste of the Gundam franchise we had in the West for broadcast, which can go far for building goodwill. Yet SEED was built on a different set of requirements, and while still very popular in Japan, less so here. SEED aimed to be more accessible, so people who were anime fans, but had no rigid devotion to mecha series, could latch on to it. So it had a very skilled voice cast, and added many common trends for the time, attractively designed leads, clearly-defined villains and heroes, romantic subplots including a love triangle here and there, and the former best friend turned enemy. I'll boil it down for an epilogue, here is why it is both popular but disliked. It was made less to approach the hallmark themes through a new lens, and more to grow a new generation of fans, while adorning the project with enough vague familiarities to hopefully hold on to ones they already had. It worked there, in part because of a skilled voice cast and their accurate assessment and prediction of audience trends. But it did not work as well here, because anime is, or was at the time, more of a niche interest in the West, and we had somewhat recently gotten Wing, which is what it was compared to, if only subconsciously. The Wing story and theming dug in and gripped Western audiences a little tighter and the lack of an equally costly voice cast could not make up the ground. And as time has gone on, the people who didn't like it then still tend not to be fans, whereas because all of this is Japan based and SEED holds more attention there, that trickles down to the West, so perhaps it will be more prescient and popular with newer generations here in the future, but for now Japan does seem to recognize that Wing was their longer-lasting ticket between the two for their Western fans.-
-Sorry for the rambling.-
-I will say the Stargazer OVA is very good. And I like quite a bit of some of the background or little-mentioned things that I wish were more overarching through the plot if only in a subliminal manner. But what can you do.-
Thanks for sharing guys i just wanted to know why people bash these shows more than g gundam. the only thing i dont like about the two is the art style for the characters, i think the character are is really bad. nonetheless i am still going to watch these two shows ... after i finish wing and 00.
I mostly just liked the grunt MS desgin in seed and destiny. The story and characters are just a mixed bag in my opinion. The Gundam desgins are also a mixed bag for me.
I don't know, but with all of story of gundam. They all make gundam still going on this far. I mean on one project for start a gundam story on that year and some rival on robo kind story, they fight to make a most good story, stole a audience and run money for company. Gundam have many love and hate story who bring fans speak up what are gundam must do on next story. But what i know is they who develops, sketch and spend his time for making gundam story in that year, put any best things on any best and worst possibilities in they condition.
Story wise, didn't care, but quality wise, horrible, the fact that they recycled scenes just makes it horrible, it sometimes doesn't match the context
Watch this Gokai,
Seed is better than G Gundam Mos...
What do you think?
